Cool objects Alvin,

particularly interesting are the chains MAC 1242-1128 and MCG 3-33-19/20/21. I will definitely try these guys with the 27". Is the MAC available somewhere?

Last night I also tried the NGC 5679 group with my 14,5" grab and go telescope :) The only galaxy I could easily pick up was NGC 5679. NGC 5679A was only vaguely perceptible. No object for finder telescopes :idontknow:

Hi Uwe,

The MAC catalogue (Mitchell Anonymous Catalogue) is available only through MegaStar as fellow Texas observer, Larry Mitchell, cataloged the "uncharted" while making many many positional corrections to "charted" galaxies in Megastar...which resulted in one of the more accurate sky charting software.

Hi Alvin and Uwe,

I also happened to observe NGC 5679 / Arp 274 earlier this month. Transparency was so-so, SQM 21.51 and the seeing was about 6 out 10 so it wasn't a great night - but not too bad either. I used 408x to make my sketch. This was a fun little group that I'd like another shot at when the transparency is better.
