Last new moon I tried the shells of the Nova DQ Her. Without expecting to see something, I got the first pop with 172x as a very small glow around the central star. With higher magnification between 293x and 419x I saw a slightly oval glow, which shows better defined short SE edge and the longer SW edge. Filters don't bring any success. Observation was at the limit of perception but I gave it a positive result.

I'm just curious if someone in the forum already tried this nebula and what the results were.

Hi Uwe,

I tried it twice with 445mm aperture, medium to high powers (until 364x), UHC, OIII, NPB filters, to no avail. Maybe the below-average optical quality of the Coulter is the culprit (or simply the lack of aperture)... These were tries under pristine skies.
