Hello,

I'm working in oil industry, for an American company Baker Hughes Inc. It so happens they booked me for a professional training in Houston, lasting 5 straight weeks - 12th Nov till 14th Dec this year. The weekdays will be busy like hell, but I may get some time off during weekends.
I have a question - does anybody know some place near Houston where I could join somebody for night sky observing?
It will take ages before I'm able to spend so much time in the United States again, so - if possible - I would like to taste some really good skies, preferably with a huge "light bucket" :-)

Many greetings from Poland!

Pawel

Hi Pawel,

I don't happen to know anybody around Huston, but, being a fellow European who often visits the US, do your best to get as much equipment as possible at prices we can never dream of here in Europe. Especially as far as eyepieces and filters and similar items are concerned, this might well be your best bet in stocking up!! Take that from someone who has done it several times.... :-)

Check out George Observatory. There are some very well known observers there...two of them is Larry Mitchell and Barbara Wilson.
