At age 98, a legend has left...

His legacy remains as his designs are now widely used to provide amateur astronomers with large aperture scopes that are easy to transport and operate, satisfying our thirst to see and catch faint (and not so faint) objects in the sky.

May he rest in peace and his essence roam the universe which he brought closer to us through his ingenuity and his love of the hobby...

The giants are leaving us... He was an inspiration.

He was quite a character by accounts and I met him briefly once when he looked through my 20 inch Obsession years ago at the Table Mountain Star Party. We're exceedingly fortunate to reap the benefits of his telescope innovations, and all the refinements that followed.

It's a shame to lose one of amateur astronomy's greatest people. Another astronomer, who looked at the way things were and envisioned something totally different, is now gone.
