Hi

I'm sorry it's almost like I vanished from the face of the earth, but the last three months have been disconnected from astronomy and spent on other things including work and the like.

I'm at Okie Tex star party. Is anyone else around? To share coordinates, I'm on the north-western end of the eastern observing field.

I had a look at Maffei-II with my 18" last night and finally, I confirm observation with my scope. (I think we'd seen it in Jimi's 48" earlier). To continue in the department of obscured galaxies of the Maffei group, I tried for Dwingeloo 1 but failed. I could only see the star flanking the core. If anyone has some tips on how to detect Dwingeloo 1 in 18"-like apertures, please do share them.

Thank you.

I thought Big Jim went this year. Did you see him?

Hi Dragan

No, I didn't run into Big Jim. Maybe he was around!?
I just now noticed that his name is indeed on the attendees list:

I wish I'd seen that earlier, I'd have looked around for Jim.

I was indeed there, but not on line much. I just now saw this while catching up on email & forum posts. Sorry I missed you, Akarsh.

Jim, I'm sorry I missed you too. I ran into some familiar faces, but I should have looked carefully through the list; I'd have come by and said hi. I was set up on the "other" field (the smaller one to the south-west).
