I looked at the PanSTARRS image in several bands and to my surprise I did not see the nebula that is on the SDSS image.
I took the photo and stretched it. It appears to be a dwarf galaxy near the larger one, with a "tail" extending toward the outer arm of the larger galaxy.
It has a very diffuse edge, so might be being somewhat disrupted by the larger galaxy.
The outer spiral arm of the large galaxy has a huge number of star forming areas in it, which could be the gravitational influence of the smaller galaxy.
The only way to know for sure is to find out if the two galaxies are at the same distance.
I would guess it's an artifact of the bright star. There are similar glints on SDSS images around bright stars. I don't see the object on PanSTARRS images either. Though I just looked at them and didn't do any stretching or processing.
The glare is probably an artifact,
as it is not seen on the deep captures, showing even the ghosty IFNs,

I agree. I stretched the deeper image and it revealed a lot of things, but nothing resembling the "object" in the first photo posted.

NGC2805 = Holmberg 124B. The other three components (A - NGC2820, C - NGC2814 & D - NGC2820A / IC2458) form KTG 23 (components C, A & B respectively). NGC2820 & NGC2820A together form Vorontsov-Vel'yaminov 1274. NGC2820A = Zwicky VII 276.Quote:
