Yes, solar system observing is like doing a meteorology in this forum :)
But I consider comets also as DSOs in the meaning of Dark Sky Objects.
Anyway, the C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE) is really beautiful!...

Here in Europe we say you've discovered America! :^)

The supernova 2018aoq was 15.7 mag a week ago but still visible in a 16". The 14.5 mag value is a typo as the photo says 15.77 mag.
    Anyway, the galaxy is cool!

As I usually observe galaxies only when a supernova is there, in this case a nova was the cause. There were ~16 mag AT2018rv a month ago (Feb 13) which is actually well known CP Dra.
    The galaxy...

I'm opening this old OOTW because there is a bright supernova there – AT2018yu (14.2 mag, Mar 10).
My last (and best) view of this group was four years ago with Uwe's 27" in Austrian Alpes (8500 ft)...

Observed today (Nov 14.83 UT) and estimated as 13.5 mag. It seems it has already faded down to the pre-event brightness.

We had to wait quite a long time to see a bright supernova again!
I observed 2017eaw last night with my 16" and estimated it as 12.8 mag.

    CTA-102 still brightening?

I observed this quasar (CTA-102) tonight with my 16" dobsonian and it seems to be even a bit brighter. I'm estimating it is now around 13.0 mag.

I can confirm that NGC 1023 is a nice binoculars target. I have had 20 observation so far in my logbook and many of them are using my 48×125 binos.
Of course you can see more in bigger aperture....

This planetary is also well known as the Crescent nebula (other than NGC 6888 in Cygnus). By the way the original Box nebula is NGC 6309 in Ophiuchus so I think we need another name for NGC 6445......

    331P/Ikeya-Murakami

    Hi dave!
The comet 331P/Ikeya-Murakami is fragmenting now but all of the A–F components are too faint (17–20 mag) to observe visually in 15". There are no other reports of a megaoutburst so far....

    Nice report, thanx.
Have you really seen the comet C/2013 US10 (Catalina) naked eye? The brightness should be about 6.2 mag now so with your NELM 5.5 it doesn't seem to be correct. As far as I know...

I observed this planetary nebula last weekend through 33" dobsonian and the view was similar to your photo. Both lobes were clearly visible and also brighter "polar caps" shined nicely. Only colors...

    SN2014C and SN2014G

    Hi!
I estimated SN2014J yesterday as 10.7 mag using my 16" f/5 at 110×. It should still brighten a bit more within a week.
You can also try two more supernovae:
    SN2014C in NGC 7331 (~15.2 mag)...

2013 was not bad, I had 180 observing sessions (but 2012 was a bit better with 246 nights). This year I saw 19 comets, many new DSO's (including a few new Palomars). Last night I also catched Himalia...

    Great report!

Edelweißspitze is my favorite place with dark skies and steady seeing. Unfortunatelly it's quite far away... an 8 hrs drive.

    Hi!
It seems to me that I live on another planet.
I have 243 observing sessions this year in my logbook. Of course not all of them are deep sky sessions. But anyway 2012 is my best year so far. I...

    Hi all!
I was very surprised recently (16 Oct) when I was observing NGC 6572. The conditions were not very good (SQM-L only 20.59, high humidity, bad seeing), the planetary nebula was already quite...
