Nice choice Mark, there are not many PNs which can be reached with smaller apertures within this constellation.
Here is my Observation with 12"

Absolutely stunning Uwe!
It even seems to hover in the starry sky.
Victor, attached the sketch I took using my 12" f5 dobson. Note that the relatively bright nebula is embedded in a faint halo.

Servus HaJü,
great sketch, pretty close to the visual impression.
And you even noted something on the south and especially on the north end of the object!
Hi Uwe, Hi Howard,
thanks for the feedback!
I can confirm that the fainter star at the SW End of the shell is more difficult to see compared to the central star. I remember observations with...

Hi Howard, Uwe,
the PN is indeed an outstanding object!
What makes it interesting for smaller scopes, such as my 12"/f5 dobson, is its surface brightness. You just pump it up beyond limits and...
I observed Leo 1 last week using a 12"F5 Dobson. The satellite galaxy was easily visible using averted Vision, even the Elongation was evident.
The sketch:...
Hi Ivan, Uwe, Howard, "aatt",
many thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it!
One of the fainter objects in Messier's catalogue is the planetary nebula M97. About 2600 light-years away, the object is located at the bottom of Big Dipper's bowl.
Its round shape together with...
Hi HaJü,

Very nice sketch of 2022. As far as I know, there are not a lot of PNs in the Orion reachable with...
NGC7331, also known as Cadwell 30, is a spiral galaxy about 40 million light-years away and located in the northern part of the constellation Pegasus.
With a brightness of 9,5mag it really isn't...
Hi Uwe,
thanks for the suggestion, I put the object to my list for the next weekend.
I've major doubts to be able to see faint companion with 12";
however, I'll at least try it.
Hi Johannes,
thanks for the Information. Tt seems, that with apertures above 20 inch details start to become visible within the lobes.
However, the object is interesting and fun with really...
Hey All,
beginning of October Jimi, a DSF Co-Founder, spent some time in Europe. There was the opportunity to have a joint observing session on the Edelweißspitze in the Austrian Alps. It's one of...
Hi Uwe, Hi Reiner,
thanks for the feedback first of all. After some disappointing trials it was really great to see both lobes.

Your sketch taken with 16" and my one match pretty well,...
Hi Jim, Thomas,
thanks for your feedback and notes.
The aperture range goes from 63mm up to 82" so far.
I'm pretty sure, that further log entries will be taken with apertures somewhere in...
Minkowski 1-92, also known as Minkowski's Footprint, is a proto-planetary nebula in the constellation Cygnus. The bipolar nebula has a special shape in the form of two lobes that are formed by...
Hi all,
Recently I found some interesting information about the veil nebula on Steve Gottlieb's homepage. Especially the extreme southern filaments (Simeis 3-210) arouse my attention. Beginning of...
