Funny...I looked at this one years ago in the 25". Megastar shows it as a supernova remnant so that's how I flagged it!

Eta Carina from the 10th floor of the San Luis resort hotel. Galveston, Tx. 10x50 binoculars on a very clear and cold night. The nebula was about 1 degree above the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

Has anyone here visually observed the lensed quasar HE 0435-1223? Simbad has the actual coordinates at 04-38-14.88 -12-17-14.6 which puts it in Eridanus.

Absolutely! I do not observe DStars as a rule but I will include them in my star hop. The edges of my old Uranometria's are full of Dstar notes.
