I have been making organized plans for general observing. Sorted by constellation because I am influenced by Burnham?s Celestial Handbook and Night Sky Observers Guide.
For any constellation:

I was just reading up on Sigma Ori and found out it?s a cluster too. No surprise just neat to know. It?s been one of my favorite multiples for years. Ive always thought of it as the ?other?...
I don't see much color in the nebula, I see that there are different colors. Different shades of green and grey.

Can we pleeeeze get Sky Tools for the iPad ?
Because I'm the customer. I want results, not excuses.
Frank it's easy. Look up at the sky, if you see anything that catches your interest, point your scope at it. You will discover many interesting things.
I forgot I had that book too!
No magnitudes given. :(
So what you guys are trying to tell me, no one uses Uranometria DSFG. While the Willmann-Bell ads in SKy and Tel told me otherwise over the years.
I really suspect it's a misprint , 10th mag...
In Uranometria Deep Sky Field Guide , King 1 (chart 8) and King 2 (chart 18) are both listed as 19th magnitude. Anyone have a good explanation? I don't see the point.
Thanks
John
Yes, it is intensifier. A good tool for some targets.
I was able to see CW visually as a tiny faint star, somewhat challenging in the poor seeing. The magnitude given by Sky Safari 14.8 supports...
2510I'm at the Staunton River Star party. Had an excellent night. Was able to see 3 out of 4 PPN's attempted. For difficult targets I also use infrared eyepiece with filters. Observations verified...
I will attempt some of these next week at the star party.
I have to work that weekend in May. I'd like to visit later in the year.
Thanks
John
In my prep for the upcoming star party I made a list of targets in CMi.
Why?
First I tend to look at the same things over and over again when I have time under dark skies.
Second I usually...

In larger apertures I see "B" as sort of brownish compared to the others. I see "E" as orangish.
The nebula details are too overwhelming.
Here's my plan so far

I just had the same problem with a new Asus tablet. The screen was set to 150% , made all the charts wacky. Works fine at 100%.
Problem is, been cloudy all December and 2017 so far :(

What is your preferred eyepie setup to for these magnifications? Thanks
I bought the book last month. $100 on Amazon, but it's pretty dense with information. Well worth it imo.
Here is a quick sketch of Minkowski 1-92 (Footprint Nebula) in Cygnus. This, along with nearby Campbell's Hydrogen Star are two nebulas that were difficult in the past. Mainly due to inexperience....
In my Binos it's a tiny green star.
In a large scope I've seen it as a bright glow divided into three unequal parts by dust lanes.
