Hi Keith,
i had a look a it with my 12" from a valley at the german alpes. Roughly over the horizon - i had to grab my Dob to follow the galaxy - peering through a cut between two mountains :-)

Hi Robin,
Thanks for your post!
I forgot to mention, i used a h-beta filter ...

Hi folks,
recently i had the occasion to observe at altitude of 5000 ft.
Air humidity around 15%. Seeing 2-3. No wind at all, slightly brightened sky yet - not perfectly dark. NELM around 7m0,...
Hi Alex,
Up to now i did not repeat the observation but i have it on my list :-)
I only saw the foreground star shining through but i will give my best supported by EQ platform at very high...
Hello together,
With 12" under very good transparency and Seeing of 2 a Little condensed very weak tiny smudge appeared, Sometimes a very weak star has peaked through.
So, it appeared to me having...
Hi Victor,
thank you very much for your beautiful reports - very nice pics, cool choice of objects, what a work to make that kind of presentation!
I have not read everything yet, there are a...
Cool Robin, congrats!
I am still waiting for superb conditions to give it another try with my 12" :-))

i knew it - good job :-)
"What is the minimum aperture for spotting NGC 3628"
Last night using a handheld NL Pure 12x42 binocular, NELM around 6m5: very weak but visible as an elusive thick streak (not permanently but...
when it already has been detected by WISE - why is it also "discovered" at AmAstro? Years before WISE?
no problem at all, thanks for your input!
I only use wikisky for practical reasons. For checking object numbers/catalogues i take aladin lite just as i linked... But there is no NED database.
I...
btw - i looked here for the PanSTARRS-View:
https://aladin.u-strasbg.fr/AladinLite/
There it´s quite bright :-)
Hi Robin,
thanks for your reply :-)
Yes, i also checked it in PanSTARRS for the same reason like you.
No, i didn´t report it to DSH. A few years ago i also found a few galaxies that i put...
Hi Folks,
i have been sweeping through wikisky yesterday and found 3 galaxies. In my opinion nice field because there is a tiny and thin PGC and one main star of the gemini constellation framing...
Hi Uwe,
of course it was a bit optimistic to try it from the balcony ;-)
But as you know - you never can tell :-) I felt encouraged by very positive results at B33 from the balcony (12", Hbeta) -...
Hi Uwe,
i would rather guess that everybody is still paralized infront of his screen ;-) "greasy mode off" ;-)
Astonishing, that even with "only" 6m5 NELM the loop is that easy for you. The exit...
just great mate.
Hello folks,
brightest arc very easy with 12" and OIII (Astronomik) under alpin skies. Unfortunately i missed to try the opposite arc for my skychart only shows the brighter one...

Hi Uwe,

I have no idea of how hard the background nebula is - but alone your sketch of the Plejades itself... is the most natural one i have ever seen of...
Hi Jimi,
according to STEINICKE the galaxy has a visual brightness of 15,4mag - so worth a try even with scopes around 10".
Thanks for the observing suggestion.

:-) NGC 4562 becomes visible when scrolling up and down ;-)
Indeed Rolandos, tiny apertures are often underrated. At least stellar magnitude is around 13mag with my 72 mm... so worth a try ;-)
...
Hi Rolandos,
interesting challenge. I will take my 72 mm refractor and try my best to see anything under rural to alpine skies as soon as possible.

Hi @ all,
with 12" at 300x starlike and weak, at 700x longish appearance in correct position angle. Hard stuff but doable.
Humidity 70%, Fst around 6m5-6m8.
Sometimes somethin seems to flash out...
Hello Steve,
thank you very much for your kind reply and additional observing notes/ descriptions :-)
Damned, i hoped beeing the first having observed those galaxies ;-)))
