Have you observed NGC 5907 in Draco, Mark? While it doesn't seem as popular as 891, I find it to be easier to pick out the dark lane in smaller apertures.

I always dreamed about owning one of those 13.1/17.5" Coulters when I was young. Anyone remember the 29" ones?! (or was there only one?)
Sent my registration in... haven't been able to make it out to Merritt Reservoir for a couple of years. Now I have to finish putting my tow vehicle back together (hit a deer last Fall during another...
and by the way... that's an incredibly meticulous sketch of M5!
Nice Dragan! A couple of years ago, I actually embarked on an attempt to sketch the Messier, marathon style in that late March time frame... the first night, clouds rolled in around 10pm... so to...
Akarsh, I've spent most of my time observing with an 18" f/4.5. It's an undriven scope... and I always liked the wide apparent field the 9mm provided (along with the other Naglers I have) to buy me...
First followed Arp having observed/researched Markarian 205 and it's 'connection' to NGC 4319... an intriguing pair.
My wife 'surprised' me with a 10mm Delos for my birthday... anxious to see how it compares to my old reliable, the type 1 9mm (obviously no shortage of eye relief). I guess I'm a little behind......
I always got the impression that I was one of the only one's who didn't jump on the Ethos bandwagon. I've liked my 12, 17, and 22 T4's so much, I couldn't give them up. I'm an eyeglass wearer as...
Yes, I immediately saw that, a great looking scope. I'm compelled to use a 30lb battery to anchor mine.
Nice hand/foot coordination. :)
A little late to the topic... and welcome Christian... I've noticed the Germans tend to have the nicest looking home built scopes, is there like, an engineering gene or something??
I've had this...
So I haven't changed my front line eyepieces for almost a decade now... I love them, consisting of nothing but a 7/9mm Nagler, several type 4's and the 31T5.
I love the 12mm and 17mm type 4's......
Mine showed up yesterday... arrived inside a month's time... not too bad. Everything was in perfect condition.
Did I hear some of you are applying reinforcement rings? I suppose I should do the...
Dragan, I just ordered mine a relatively short time ago... wasn't even sure they were still available. I finally heard back from Piotr today. He shipped mine out on Sept 22nd... so my wait is JUST...
Are there any ASKC members on the internets? :) I ask, because I never seem to see anything on Heart of America Star Party... in spite of it's being hosted by one of the largest clubs in the...
Thanks for the responses... I'll just wait patiently.
As for the atlas itself, I don't imagine it will ever supplant my Uranometria/laptop based content in the field either... but it looks so...
I've actually been unsuccessful in getting any kind of response from Piotr. I hope everything is alright... my Paypal payment cleared <gulp>.
I probably should have contacted him prior to...
Yes, thanks for the heads up. Too bad I don't visit the forum here frequently enough, I would have ordered sooner.
Hopefully they're still available... I ordered one just this evening. I guess...
So, I attended my third Iowa Star Party last weekend. Unfortunately, a busy work schedule left me only making it one night, and it ended up a somewhat dismal night for observing at that.
As for...
Speaking of degradation in transparency... we're really beginning to see the impact of the Colorado fires over Nebraska.
Not to deviate from west Texas... but has anyone been to the Comanche Springs Astronomy Campus, midway between Lubbock and Wichita Falls. It would appear to have pretty dark skies and seems to cater...
Lately for me, it's been at least 4-5 nights a month... but that's at least half outreach events, which are often done under less than ideal skies, and dictated by the audience (usually kids and...
Hello,
My name is Jeff Huston, hailing from Omaha, Nebraska. I discovered my Dad's dusty Tasco in the basement at 14, detasseled corn to pay for an 8" Cave, joined the Omaha Astronomical Society...
