    Cool Finally broke the 4billion light year travel time threshold for a Galaxy

    SDSS J1226+2149 cluster

    BCLG
    12 26 51
    +21 49 51

    Z=.4379
    Light travel time 4.6 Billion Light Years

    I broke my record for the most distant Galaxy I have seen early this morning under superb skies with great seeing and transparency. The BCLG in SDSS j1226+2149 in COMA is a dim 18.6V mag and I was not sure I could catch it.
    I found the field and by luck two stars line up and point to the faint BCLG. This made it easy as to were to look. I bumped up the power with a 10MM ZAO at 488X and to my surprise the faint galaxy briefly popped into view. It appeared for only a second. I had 4 quick pops and bumped up the power to a 6mm ZAO at 813X I settled in had 8 pops at this power. I could not make out any structure but I still was excited to catch the ancient light!

    Now I am on the hunt for a further galaxy

    Jimi,
    Wow, just wow.
    Where would you go about looking up distant galaxies to find a succession of distant ones within the limits of your scope?

    Don I am always on the hunt looking for objects. I found this object in galaxy zoo a few years back.
