Wonderful write-up on the history, and how they confirmed the membership of the planetary Scott!

Perhaps it was 14 years ago when a friend pointed me to this article. In one of my recent trips to India, I found my old printed finder charts for attempting Pease 1, perhaps from 2009. Anyway, at that point, this object was something I aspired to observe.

I did get a shot at it through John Tatarchuk's 25" from Central Texas, and unfortunately this is my sole observation till date, made on Aug 27, 2011. My notes indicate that I saw a "bright, diffuse patch" without an OIII filter which was replaced by a "stellar condensation" when an OIII filter was introduced. John had a nice filter slide on his scope which made this easy. What exactly did I observe? I don't know for sure, but perhaps I was seeing a clump of stars that was diminished with the OIII letting the PN's light dominate the view. I hope to hit it some time again, but I need stable tracking.
