    Malin 2

Here is one that is way off the beaten path!

    Malin 2

    DEC

Malin 2 was found in 1988 by Bothum and Schombert at the University of Michigan on the Poss plates.

I observed this unusual galaxy last night and was surprised at how bright the core of Malin 2 was. It will be interesting to see what is the smallest scope that can see the core of this LSB giant. I could see the faint strong arm with AV in moments of good seeing. The bright core had a yellow appearance to my eye. There is a nice double star in the field with Malin 2. I know of no other observations of it and if you see it you will be in the company of few who have seen this galaxy visually.
