Last night I observed from our rural club site. A 45-min drive and got 21.2 mag/sq arcsec in the culminating Pegasus and Pisces. But the familiar galaxies lacked a lot of punch as well as some actual detail compared with my favorite remote site 3 hrs away (typically 21.7 mag/sq arcsec). Nice to compare! I see you glimpsed the equatorial dust lane in NGC 7814. Does it require good seeing as well as good thermal equilibration of the 16" f/4.5 mirror, or is it a relatively robust feature in your experience? What magnification showed it best?
