    Downloadable Observing Guides

    Hi all,

It dawned on me that even though I offer more than 15 observing guides for free on my website that many don't have the means to print them in an economical manner. Or have an inkjet printer that costs an arm and leg to print out. Even sending the print job to a local print shop, such as a Kinkos.

I decided to upload all of them to my publisher and offer them at a little above my cost (less than $1). In fact, it is actually cheaper than sending the print job to Kinkos (5 cents a side) and having them bind it ($4.99 per coil bind). You'll find that if you order at least 2 or 3, the shipping isn't bad considering the total cost.

Best part is that I'll still leave my free version on my website, so folks will have two options:
    1. Download it and print themselves or just use electronically on the field.
    2. Order and have my publisher take care of it.

I do this as I really enjoy putting the guides together as a tool for you deep sky hounds!

Details are on my website with direct links to Lulu, my publisher.

By the way, I'm more than halfway in putting together the Herschel 400, Part I and II observing guides.

This really is an awesome deal. I recently had the DSF 2013 OOTW Observing Guide printed in b&w at Kinkos. It was coiled bound with a clear front cover and a black vinyl cover for $29. Looks like you can get the same thing (minus the front and back cover) for $12.95. Less than half price. Alvin, thanks for making these available to everyone at such a reasonable cost.

Thanks Mark - I'm just passing my savings on to others. Whatever the cost is, I just rounded up to the closest 0.95...so I'm making almost nothing on them as it was never my intent.

Wow I didn't think it would be that high. That means even ordering just that one book plus shipping is still cheaper than Kinkos.
