I have a larger writing about my B33 experience on my side, I tried to translate:

8,5x42 Bino; Hß; NELM 7m+
IC 434 visible without problems; direct vision; 1° long; B33 not visible, even with tripod

4" Newton; 50x; Hß; NELM 6m5+
from 13x + Hß nebula edge of IC 434 visible with direct vision; dark hole of B33 not until 50x

20x125 Bino; no filter; NELM 7m+
perfect transparency; IC 434 difficult to see; B33 a faint dark hole in the very faint nebula
NGC2024_IC434.jpg

5" Binotelescope; 98x; Hß; NELM 6m5+
more easy than expected; B33 easy to see as a black structureless hole in IC 434

6" Refractor; 50x; Hß; NELM 7m+
B33 difficult to see even under very good transparency; IC 434 easy

8" Newton; 47x; Hß; NELM 6m5+
easy IC 434 1° long, direct vision; dark hole 0,5° S of Alnitak from the E, also direct vision; with averted vision and concentrated observation the different angle between neck and mane is visible; the snout could not be resolved

10" Newton; 70x; UHC; NELM 6m5+
good country sky; IC 434 difficult to see as a streak of nebula; B33 is visible as a large hole within IC 434; bigger than expected

16" Newton; 100x; Hß; NELM 7m+
easy target; dark hole visible as direct vision structure; the bend between neck and mane visible as a difficult structure; snout only suspected

20" Newton; 100x; Hß; NELM 7m+
flashy object; form of the snout and neck is visible

27" Newton; 95x-172x; Hß; NELM 6m5+
bright and structured object; intensive observation and sketch; finally the form of the snout could be detected with direct vision and without problems; well structured, even within the dark hole some small nebula fragments could be detected
