    New Deep Sky books

Perry at Willmann-Bell keeps cranking out great astronomy books.

I just received the first two volumes of their new series, Annals of the Deep Sky. These are not observing guides per se, but are written in the spirit of Burnham's Celestial Handbook.

Each volume covers a few constellations, with details notes on selected key objects, with an emphasis on summarizing the astrophysics research for each object.

I am just going to start digging in tonight, but they look pretty good. There is more info at:

Just want to say, I'm a fan of Willman-Bell. I constantly use what, IMO, is the best atlas for the DSO enthusiast: Uranometria 2000, vol's 1 & 2. Sometime soon I am planning on ordering a copy of Arp's "Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies" from them, and maybe the U2K Deep Sky Catalogue.

Yes I did. I love books. Even if it hard to imagine those pages under the sky. Just like Burhams. But like them, I had to have two sets. One for the library and one for the scope. In this case, at $25 a pop... I guess I'll have to wait and find used editions. Sure I understand they are not meant for under-the-sky use.
